Kutztown Bowling to Compete this Weekend in Allentown

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team will be competing at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) singles and team sectionals this weekend, March 14-16, at Parkway Lanes in Allentown. This is one of the few Kutztown will be competing so close to campus.

The top four qualifiers from singles and the top four teams from the weekend will all earn a trip to the USBC National Championships in Reno, Nev. on April 14-19. KU has qualified for nationals the past three seasons in as many seasons of competing. 16 teams will be at Parkway Lanes competing for four spots at nationals. All teams bowl 64 baker games over the course of two days and team competition begins on Saturday and Sunday at 8:30 a.m.

Kutztown is currently ranked 11th in the NCAA, which marks the sixth straight year KU has been in the top 20 for the entire season. KU players are competing in six traditional games in singles competition, which takes place on Friday March 14 at 3 p.m. 127 women are competing in Allentown for four individual spots to the national championships. Kutztown senior Brooke Bower (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliff) qualified in 2012, when nationals were in Lincoln, Neb. KU's Deanna DiRado (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem) finished fifth a year ago, narrowly missing nationals by just three pins.
