KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's basketball team hosts Shippensburg University on Feb. 22 in a Saturday afternoon Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division game in the home-finale at Keystone Arena. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.

With a win, not only will the Golden Bears (9-15, 6-8 PSAC East) clinch a spot in the PSAC Championship Tournament, but head coach Janet Malouf will earn her 300th career win.

The Golden Bears had a chance to achieve these two feats, but they lost Wednesday to Lock Haven, 70-63. They were outrebounded 35-25 in the loss. Kutztown will now look to redeem for an 86-57 loss suffered one month ago to Shippensburg (16-8, 10-4) at Heiges Field House. It was KU's second-biggest loss of the year.

PSAC PLAYOFF PICTURE: Kutztown currently holds a 6-8 record in the PSAC East, ranking the team sixth in the division. With five teams already clinching a playoff spot, the Golden Bears need to stay ahead of Lock Haven to earn the final spot from the east in the PSAC Championship Tournament. Kutztown can get no higher than the five seed, which means the Golden Bears would have a road game in the first round of the tournament, which takes place on March 1.

LAST TIME OUT: The Golden Bears failed to clinch the East Division's final spot in the PSAC Championship Tournament, losing to Lock Haven 70-63 Wednesday night. Kutztown shot well, with a 45.5 field goal percentage. However, it wasn't enough in a game with 11 lead changes. For Lock Haven, the advantages came from points in the paint (30-18), points off turnovers (27-15) and rebounding (35-25).For Kutztown, Natalya Lee (Feasterville, Pa./Rancocas Valley Regional) led the way with 16 points, seven assists (tied a career-high) and three steals. Jess Harvey (Barnegat, N.J./Rumson Fair-Haven Regional) added 14 points, while Advia Campbell (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) scored 13.

APPROACHING 300: With last Saturday's win, head coach Janet Malouf earned her 299th win at Kutztown. In her 20th season, she stands one win away from a career milestone that 39 active Division II head coaches reached in women's basketball. Furthermore, only four coaches in PSAC history earned 300 wins while coaching at an institution in the conference. A three-time PSAC East Coach of the Year, Malouf coached KU to its three winningest seasons in program history.

STATISTICAL ADVIA-TION: Junior forward Advia Campbell (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) took her play to a higher level this season. She earned the program's first ever triple-double on Dec. 7, also setting a school record with 10 blocks in a single game. Campbell blocked 61 shots this season (fifth in KU history) and 111 for her career (sixth in KU history). Also, the junior co-leads the PSAC with 2.8 steals per game. Campbell also averages 10.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

MRS. RELIABLE: Through her three years at KU, junior guard/forward Alyssa Bonenberger (Walnutport, PA/Northampton Area) started 76 consecutive games and counting. With that, she's become one of the main focal points on offense. Her 10.2 points per game ranks second on the team, while her 7.5 rebounds per game co-leads the team. Her five double-doubles co-leads the team with Advia Campbell (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape). Bonenberger shoots 39.2 percent from the field this season.

BEYOND ELEMENTARY: Freshman forward Kelsey Watson (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) is playing some of her best basketball of late. She earned PSAC East Freshman of the Week honors for her play against Mansfield and West Chester, but she continued her strong play against Cheyney and Millersville. Watson scored in double figures three times in the last six games, shooting 56.8 percent from the field and 75.9 percent from the free-throw line in that span.

Looking in the Other Corner: the Shippensburg Red Raiders

DYNAMIC DUO: Sporting arguably the best 1-2 punch in the PSAC East, the Red Raiders are getting more than 16 points per game apiece from senior guard Sarah Strybuc (18.3 ppg) and sophomore forward Stephanie Knauer (16.5 ppg). Knauer's 61.9 percent shooting from the field tops the PSAC, while Strybuc's 350 field goal attempts rank second in the conference.

GOLD STANDARD: Freshman guard Lauren Gold is making an immediate impact for the Red Raiders. She ranks third on the team with 13.5 points per games. More importantly, she distributes the ball very well, she ranks third in the conference with 4.8 assists per game and a 2.1 assist-to-turnover ratio. Both figures lead the PSAC East.

HEY THERE, COACH: Red Raiders head coach Kristy Trn is in her 15th season as head coach at the university. A three-time PSAC East Coach of the Year, Trn owns a 257-165 record with Shippensburg. Including her time as an assistant coach, Trn helped to lead the Red Raiders to three appearances in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight (1996, 1998, 2001).
