Another Impressive Day Keeps Kutztown Bowling in Second Place

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team posted four wins on Saturday and remains in second place after the second day of the Red Flash Invitational, hosted by Saint Francis University (PA).
 
The Golden Bears (55-29) followed up their second place showing on the first day. Kutztown has knocked down 7999 pins and only trails LIU Brooklyn's 8198, who Kutztown faced twice on Saturday. Delaware State is third (7988), St. Francis (PA) is fourth (7878), and Penn State Altoona is fifth (6725).
 
Kutztown opened the day with a 883-663 win vs. Pitt-Bradford, and then defeated Mount Aloysius (918-607) and New Jersey City (759-674). It fell to 20th-ranked LIU Brooklyn 953-943, but then defeated the Blackbirds in the position round, 921-908.
 
Senior Brooke Bower (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliff) posted a team-best 179.4 average in five games for Kutztown. Rebecca Velazquez (Mohegan Lake, NY/Lakeland) was second on the team at 179.2, followed by Deanna DiRado (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem) at 178.8.
 
The Golden Bears enter the final day of the Red Flash Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 2. They will take on LIU Brooklyn for the third time of the tournament in a best-of-seven format.
