ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team finished eighth out of 23 teams on Tuesday after the final day of the two-day Lehigh Valley Classic at Jordan Lanes.
The Lehigh Valley Classic is a United States Bowling Congress (USBC) sponsored event, so KU's win-loss record will not be affected due to non-NCAA competition.
The Golden Bears finished with a total pinfall of 7871 to finish eighth. Kutztown's 'junior varsity team' competed outside of the final standings, and posted a pinfall of 7413 that would have ranked 17th.
Christine Gordon (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) led the team with a team-high 19.12 baker average on Tuesday through KU's 40 frames.
Kayla Maselkevich (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area) was second at 19.07 and
Lauren Stamm (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) was third at 18.62. For the 'junior varsity team',
Becca Heltzel (York, Pa./West York Area) led the way with a 18.31 average.
Pikeville University won the invite with a final score of 8555, followed by St. Francis (8516), Wright State (8449), Robert Morris (8223) and Florida State (8039).
Kutztown returns to action for its annual home invitational on Jan. 23-25 at Hiester Lanes in Reading, Pa.
