Golden Bears Rank Third after First NEC Meet of Season

WALLINGFORD, Conn. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team competed in three matches on Sunday morning and wrapped up the first Northeast Conference (NEC) meet of the season in third place in the eight-team tournament.
 
The Golden Bears (19-12) took on Fairleigh Dickinson in the first match on Sunday, but saw FDU post an impressive score of 1,051 in a 1051-850 defeat. KU rebounded with a 951-943 win over Sacred Heart, and ended the day with a narrow 979-964 setback to Saint Francis Brooklyn.
 
For the weekend, Kutztown went 4-3, third-best in head-to-head records, and holds a winning percentage of .571 for a tie for third overall. FDU and Saint Francis (PA) led the way with 6-1 records.
 
Two Golden Bears posted scores higher than 200 in the win over Sacred Heart. Dakota May (Conklin, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) led the way with a 211, and was followed by Kayla Maselkevich (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area) at 201.
 
Lauren Stamm (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) bowled a team-high 235 in the final match of the day.
 
Kutztown returns to action next weekend, Nov. 14-16, at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawk Classic. The next NEC meet is set for Dec. 6-7 in Elmwood Park, N.J.
