KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's tennis team fell to Albright College 7-2 Thursday afternoon at Keystone Courts.
The Golden Bears (0-1) had a sole victor on the court in sophomore
Chelsea Davis (Spring City, Pa./Spring-Ford), who took the crown in both singles and doubles play.
Davis swept Albright's Christina Peacock 6-0, 6-0 in singles, and paired up with partner freshman
Alyssa Konas (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) to take down Peacock and Erin Sullivan 8-4 in doubles.
In singles, junior
Hannah Pipkin (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) took the victory in a close first set to Victoria Foanio 7-5, but fell in the second set 6-1, and lost the tie breaker 10-6.
Freshman Jessica Burns (7-5, 6-1), and senior
Tori Zander (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) (7-5, 6-0) each came close in their first sets, but experienced setbacks in singles play.
Freshman
Zachara Harley (Wyndmoor, PA/Springfield) (6-3, 6-3), and Konas (6-2, 6-3) fell to the Lions in single play as well.
Duos Pipkin and Zander (8-2) and Burns and Harley (8-6) were also upset in doubles play.
The Golden Bears return to action when they travel to Bloomsburg University Saturday, Sept. 28, to compete in the Bloomsburg Open Tournament.
