SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's tennis team earned its second consecutive shutout victory with a 9-0 win over Shippensburg University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match Sunday afternoon.
The Golden Bears advanced their season record to 6-6 overall and 4-0 in the PSAC after sweeping the Raiders (1-11, 1-4).
In doubles,
Ridhima Borooah (Guwahati-Assam, India/Modern School; Barakhamba Road; New Delhi) and
Hannah Pipkin (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) (8-1), and
Rachel Grula (Drums, PA/Hazleton Area) and
Tori Zander (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) (8-2) earned their third consecutive wins as a pairs, while
Cynthia Good (Montrose, Pa./Elk Lake) and
Emily Troast (/) (8-1) advanced their streak to four.
In singles, Borooah (6-0, 6-1) also picked up her third consecutive match win, while Zander (6-2, 6-1), and
Chelsea Davis (Spring City, Pa./Spring-Ford) (6-2, 6-2) reached second consecutive match wins.
Troast fell in her first set of singles play 4-6, but turned the game around to win the next two sets 6-3, 10-5 for a second consecutive match win as well.
Pipkin (6-0, 6-1) and Grula (6-2, 6-1) also had victories in singles play.
The Golden Bears return to action on Tuesday, April 9 when they host Bloomsburg University for a PSAC contest at the Keystone Courts for a 2 p.m. start.
