WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's lacrosse team split seven goals between five players in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup against No. 7 West Chester University Tuesday afternoon at Vonnie Gros Field. The Golden Bears fell to the Golden Rams 20-7.
WCU opened the first half of play to score seven goals before
Jillian Spencer (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) utilized a free position shot to score the first goal of the game for KU with just over 10 minutes remaining in the first half.
Less than a minute later,
Taylor Stone (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) found the back of the net again for KU. Over a span of the following two minutes, WCU scored three more goals.
Freshman attacker
Taylor Sandin (Freehold, NJ/Colts Neck) scored her first goal of the season for KU on an assist by
Katie Feairheller (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) with just over two minutes remaining in the first half to take the Golden Bears to three.
With the clock running out, the Golden Rams scored another two goals before Sandin struck again with only 25 seconds remaining to score the fourth goal for KU. The two teams went to halftime with WCU in the lead 12-4.
West Chester opened the second half of play with six goals before Spencer scored her second goal of the game with less than twelve minutes on the clock, reaching a career-high 20 goals.
The two teams continued to fight for possession, until Krystine Boedeker scored the sixth goal for KU with five minutes on the clock.
WCU scored once again before
Brielle Dickey (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) found the back of the net with less than a minute left in the game to score the seventh and final goal for KU. WCU then scored their 20th and final goal of the game with less than 30 seconds remaining in the game.
Marisa Kalodner (Havertown, PA/Haverford) led KU in groundballs (2) and caused turnovers (2), while
Randy Vite (Highland Mills, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) led in draw controls (2).
The Golden Bears return to action Thursday, April 25 for a home game against Chestnut Hill College beginning at 4 p.m.
