KU Defeats Defending Champs, Completes Day One at USBC Nationals

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team completed day one of the United States Bowling Conference (USBC) Nationals at Sun Valley Lanes Thursday, finishing 1-1 highlighted by their sweep over Webber International University.
 
In their round-one victory, the Golden Bears (77-42) shutout the two-time USBC defending national champions Webber 4-0. The Wildcats came close in the first of four of seven baker games falling to KU 182-181, but the Golden Bears maintained the distance in pin falls to grab the win after four games.
 
Unfortunately in round-two, the Golden Bears fell to Wichita State University 4-1. KU won the second game against the Shockers 245-195, and recorded three of the five games above 200.
 
KU moves on to round-three beginning tomorrow Friday, April 19 to face Sacred Heart University beginning at approximately 8:15 a.m. at Sun Valley Lanes. It will be the eighth time Kutztown faces off against Sacred Heart this season, as KU is a perfect 7-0 against the Pioneers. KU took down SHU twice in the USBC sectionals and once in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships.
