Women’s Tennis Seals First Perfect PSAC Record in School History

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's tennis team defeated East Stroudsburg University 8-1 at the Keystone Courts Sunday afternoon, marking their sixth and final victory in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division play for the first time in school history.  
 
The Golden Bears (9-7, 6-0 PSAC East) and this year's Eastern Division champions defeated the Warriors (4-10) to finish their regular season PSAC matches undefeated. The perfect record and the regular season title mark first-time occurances in Kutztown history.
 
The Golden Bears were victorious in all three doubles matches. Ridhima Borooah (Guwahati-Assam, India/Modern School; Barakhamba Road; New Delhi) and Hannah Pipkin (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) (8-3), Rachel Grula (Drums, PA/Hazleton Area) and Tori Zander (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) (8-2), and Emily Troast (/) and Cynthia Good (Montrose, Pa./Elk Lake) (8-6) all picked up wins over the Warriors.
 
In singles play, Borooah, Pipkin, and Chelsea Davis (Spring City, Pa./Spring-Ford) swept their ESU competition in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
 
Grula (6-2, 6-0) and Troast (6-2, 6-4) also had wins in singles play.

The Golden Bears head into the PSAC semifinals beginning on Friday, April 19 at Indiana (Pa.) University.
