Women's Tennis Splits at Bloomsburg Duals

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's tennis team traveled to Bloomsburg University Saturday to play dual matches against Bluefield State College and the University of Charleston. The Golden Bears swept Bluefield 5-0, but fell to Charleston 5-0.

In doubles, Ridhima Borooah (Guwahati-Assam, India/Modern School; Barakhamba Road; New Delhi) and Hannah Pipkin (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) (8-0) earned their sixth consecutive win as a pair this season, while Rachel Grula (Drums, PA/Hazleton Area) and Tori Zander (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) (8-0) took their winning streak to five.
 
Emily Troast (/) and Cynthia Good (Montrose, Pa./Elk Lake) also had an 8-1 win in doubles.
 
In singles play, Troast (6-2, 6-1) and Chelsea Davis (Spring City, Pa./Spring-Ford) (6-1, 6-0) were victorious to score for KU, while singles No. 1 through No. 4 were unfinished.
 
KU vs. Charleston
 
In singles, Borooah suffered her third loss of the season falling 6-2, 6-1. Zander was the only other Golden Bear to complete her singles set, and underwent a 6-0, 6-0 setback.
 
The Golden Bear doubles teams also saw ends to their winning streaks.
 
KU will host East Stroudsburg at Keystone Courts tomorrow Sunday, April 14 entering the match with a record of 8-7.
