Box Score 2 PETERSBURG, Va. – Kutztown University outscored Virginia State 17-2 to sweep both ends of a non-conference baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Bears won 9-1 in game one and 8-1 in game two to improve to 6-2 on the season.
In the first game, KU pounced on the Vikings for four runs in the first inning, including a two-run double by
Travis Kreitz (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown). Later,
Kyle Stoudt (Mertztown, PA/Brandywine Heights) drove in a pair of runs in the fourth inning.
Brett Hauck (Kutztown, PA/Kutztown) was 2-for-2 and scored three runs.
Jason Henderson (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) (2-0) got the win, as four pitchers held VSU to one run on three hits.
In the second game, KU broke it open with five runs in the third, including two-run singles by
Joe Peters (Kutztown, PA/Kutztown (Delaware Technical CC)) and
Todd Rubendall (Collegeville, PA/Methacton). Stoudt was 2-for-3 with two runs and Kreitz finished 2-for-2 with two runs.
Stoudt (1-0) was the winning pitcher, one of five hurlers who combined to scatter seven hits for KU.
