KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's tennis team defeated Millersville University 6-3 on Friday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match at the Keystone Tennis Courts.
With the win, Kutztown University head coach
Suresh Ramamurthi won his 100th career dual match in his 13th season at the helm of the men's and women's programs at Kutztown.
Ridhima Borooah (Guwahati-Assam, India/Modern School; Barakhamba Road; New Delhi) and
Hannah Pipkin (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) picked up wins in doubles and in singles. Borooah and Pipkin defeated MU's Plowman/Waite 8-2 in their fourth win on the season as a pair. Borooah went on to beat Plowman in singles 6-1, 7-5, while Pipkin took down Waite 6-1, 6-1.
Emily Troast (/) and
Cynthia Good (Montrose, Pa./Elk Lake) also grabbed a win in doubles play, defeating MU's Heller/Daacke 8-5.
In singles action,
Rachel Grula (Drums, PA/Hazleton Area) defeated MU's Liz Wagner 6-1, 6-3, and
Chelsea Davis (Spring City, Pa./Spring-Ford) beat MU's Jess Taleff 6-1, 6-3.
The Golden Bears improved their record to 3-6, 1-1 in PSAC play while the Marauders stand at 4-9, and 1-1 in the PSAC.
The Golden Bears return to action tomorrow Saturday, March 30 when they travel to West Chester for a 1 p.m. start.
