Women Netters Fall to Goldey-Beacom

WILMINGTON, Del. - Goldey-Beacom won five singles and two doubles match-ups to cruise to a 7-2 victory over Kutztown in women's college tennis Sunday at Delcastle Recreation Area Courts in Wilmington, Del.

Ridhima Borooah (Guwahati-Assam, India/Modern School; Barakhamba Road; New Delhi) was a double winner for the Golden Bears. She teamed up with Hannah Pipkin (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) to edge Filipa Correia and Anastasia Melinkova, 9-8, at first doubles.  Borooah defeated Blanca Sancho at No. 2 singles.  She won the first set 6-2 before Sancho defaulted due to injury.

Winners at doubles and singles for Goldey-Beacom included Stephanie Puentes Robinson (No. 2 doubles, No. 1 singles) and Vanessa Leon (No. 3 doubles, No. 4 singles).

With the loss KU falls to 1-1, while Goldey-Beacom improves to 12-4.

The Golden Bears will return to action March 17 against Wisconsin-Eau Claire when they begin their Spring Break trip at Hilton Head, SC.
