TOWSON, Md. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team ranked 14th after day two of the three day Morgan State Invitational at AMF Towson Lanes in Towson, Md., Saturday highlighted by their defeat over No. 4 Arkansas State.
The Golden Bears went 3-1 on the day, bringing their overall record to 60-31.
With a total pin fall of 8109 for 14th place, KU defeated No. 4 Arkansas State (947-879), Coppin State (927-785), and grabbed the victory by one point against North Carolina A&T (892-891). The Maroon and Gold had a single loss on the day to Norfolk State (1017-892).
Christine Gordon (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) averaged a 207.8 for five games (212, 231, 217, 170, 209). Her personal high of 231 on the day was against Arkansas State, and she aided the Golden Bears' come back in the game against North Carolina A&T. KU was behind 78 pins after 6 frames, but Gordon helped in the anchor spot as she sealed the nerve racking one pin win against the Bulldogs.
Brooke Bower (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliff) held the second high for the Golden Bears with a 194.2 average for five games.
The Golden Bears complete tournament play with best of seven baker matches beginning tomorrow Sunday, February 17.
