READING, Pa. – The 12th-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team finished the first Northeast Conference (NEC) meet of the season with a 6-3 record on Sunday. The Golden Bears are currently tied for second after 10 rounds of play.
The team struggled to make consistent shots during the first match of the day, ultimately losing to Fairleigh Dickinson 846-1039. With a few lineup changes, the Golden Bears bounced back to beat Long Island University 931-860.
After the conclusion of the second match, the format changed from traditional play to five-game baker sets. In the third round, the team struggled to make adjustments against St. Francis Brooklyn, ultimately losing 925-945. During the fourth match, the Golden Bears fell to St. Francis University, 809-927.
With a lineup change and a higher filled frame percentage, the team beat Sacred Heart University the last match of the day, 979-841. The team shot a season-high baker game of 249 during the five-game set.
"I think today proved that no matter how confident we are, we can't fall asleep against anyone," head coach
Joseph Ambrose said. "We need to be more consistent with executing shots."
The Golden Bears travel to Delaware on Friday, Nov. 15 to compete in the UMES Hawk Classic.
