KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's tennis team took on Mercyhurst University on Friday afternoon, but dropped a 9-0 decision in non-conference action at Keystone Courts.

The Golden Bears (0-2) opened their weekend on a sunny Friday afternoon in their second home match of the season. Top-seeded Hannah Pipkin (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) registered numerous game points against the Lakers' (2-0) Caroline Bristol. Unfortunately for Pipkin, she was on the wrong side of a 6-2, 6-3 final.

Alyssa Konas (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) also registered multiple game points in her straight-set setback. In double play, Konas teamed with Chelsea Davis (Spring City, Pa./Spring-Ford) and notched four points in an 8-4 loss.

Kutztown turns around quickly for another match on Saturday morning. On Oct. 5, Kutztown hosts Edinboro University in a second non-conference match set to start at 11 a.m.
