KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University's women's tennis players
Rachel Grula (Drums, PA/Hazleton Area),
Tori Zander (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen), and
Emily Troast (/) shone on the court against Albright College, winning in both singles and doubles as KU defeated Albright 6-3.
In single play, Grula and Zander both earned straight set victories in matches against Albright's Alyssa Sell, 7-5, 6-3, and Erin Sullivan, 6-0, 6-2.
Troast fell to Elizabeth Bengston of Albright in her first set, 4-6, but made a comeback in the second and third set, 6-3, 6-2, for another win for KU.
Senior
Ridhima Borooah (Guwahati-Assam, India/Modern School; Barakhamba Road; New Delhi) won a shut out straight set match against Melissa Carberry, 6-0, 6-0.
Cynthia Good (Montrose, Pa./Elk Lake) fell to Albright's Christina Peacock in the first set, 2-6, and gained the advantage in the second set 6-4, but lost in the third set, 2-6.
Hannah Pipkin (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) dropped a straight set match to Victoria Foanio of Albright, 4-6, 6-7.
In doubles play, Pipkin and Borooah fell to Foanio and Sell, 4-8.
Grula and Zander defeated their opponents Carberry and Bengston, 8-1, and Good and Troast won their match against Peacock and Lauren Sperling, 8-6.
Kutztown keeps the home advantage when they play the University of Scranton on Wednesday, September 26, starting at 3 p.m.
