Box Score DUE WEST, S.C. – Kutztown University used a 9-1 run to end the first half to pull away from Erskine in a 19-4 victory the Golden Bears' season opener.

The 19 goals were the most for KU in 29 matches, dating back to a 27-goal eruption during the 2010 season.
Kelsey Hogan (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape) scored six goals in the win, a career-high for the junior.
Emily Solt (Bowmanstown, PA/Concord) (Bowmanstown, Pa./Concord) gave KU an early 1-0 lead with a goal just over three minutes into the action, but the Flying Fleet tied it up with 23:18 to go in the first half on a score by Alesia Jerrells.
Hogan's first goal of the day gave the Golden Bears the lead for good at 20:33.
Leeann Pica (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) followed with a free position score at 17:54 that started a streak of four goals in a span of 1:33 for Kutztown.
Krystine Boedeker (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Delaware Valley) scored at 17:16 and 16:11, with Hogan's second marker of the afternoon sandwiched in between.
After another goal by Hogan put Kutztown ahead 7-1 with 14:15 to play in the period, Erskine finally got back on the board with Jerrells second goal of the half at 11:33.
Beodeker assisted on each of the next to Golden Bear goals and Hogan capped the first half scoring with 2:38 remaining as KU entered the intermission ahead 10-2.

Gina Carmina (Flanders, NJ/Mt. Olive) (Flanders, N.J./Mt. Olive) scored within 18 seconds of one another to open the half as Kutztown extended the lead to 12-2 with 28:19 to play.
After a Flying Fleet tally by Samantha Burns with just over 22 minutes to go, the Golden Bears ripped off seven straight goals and the defense kept Erskine off the scoreboard for a stretch of over 21 minutes to put the game away.
Rosa Buffalino (Monroe Twp., Monroe Twp.) had all three of her scores in the run.
Megan Schwar (Alpha, NJ/Phillipsburg) (Alpha, N.J./Phillipsburg) had a goal and an assist in the spree and Pica, Hogan and
Victoria Rost (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) also scored.
Lauren Schlitt (Baldwin, NY/Oceanside) (Baldwin, N.Y./Oceanside) assisted on Rost's goal with 5:46 to play.
Erskine scored the game's final goal when Hillary Henry, who also had an assist in the contest, took a feed from Samantha Burns with only 45 seconds remaining.
Beodeker had four points in the game with two goals and two assists, while Buffalino and Pica each had three goals.
Pica also had three ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers to fill up the stat sheet.
Marisa Kalodner (Havertown, PA/Haverford) (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) forced a pair of turnovers, as well.
Alexis Williams (Woolwich Township, NJ/Kingsway) (Woolwich Twp., N.J./Kingsway) picked up the start in net and stopped nine shots in 60 minutes of work.
For Erskine, Kellie Brabham had four ground balls. Jerrells, in addition to her two goals, had three draw controls.
Kaitlyn Overley had seven saves in the losing effort.
