TOWSON, Md. (February 18, 2012)—Senior
Kayla Jones (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop ) (Johnstown, Pa./ Westmont Hilltop) led the Kutztown University women's bowling team to a 4-1 day at the Morgan State Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Bears (47-31 overall) are in 12th place at the invitational as Saturday featured five traditional team games. Kutztown is 7-3 at the tournament and has a total pinfall of 8285.
In its first match, Kutztown defeated Virginia State University 1022-835. Jones finished with a team-high 246. Sophomore
Deanna DiRado (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem) (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem) rolled a 221, followed by
Jara Cohen (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) (Marlton, N.J./ Cherokee) with a 217.
KU defeated Elmhurst College 879-786. Sophomore
Brooke Bower (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliff) (Camp Hill, Pa./ Cedar Cliff) led the Golden Bears with a 196.
Kutztown also defeated Northeast Conference (NEC) mate, New Jersey City University 1036-992 where Jones finished with a staggering 248. Bower capped a 213 against NJCU, while DiRado rolled a 209.
Against North Carolina A&T State University, the Golden Bears won 869-819. Jones also led in that match rolling a 207 against the Aggies.
KU dropped a 1003-934 decision to Vanderbilt University. DiRado finished with a team-high 212 and Jones posted a 201.
Sunday will conclude the invitational with the best-of-seven baker matches beginning at 8:30 a.m.
