ALTOONA, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team moved up to second place at the Red Flash Invitational, after day two of the three day competition at Holiday Bowl in Altoona, Pa.
In 2009, former Golden Bear Kayla Stamm set the highest individual game record of 289 points for Kutztown. Saturday, alum Kayla cheered her younger sister, freshman
Lauren Stamm (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) on as she tied the school record in the victory over Ursuline.
KU went 5-0 on the day with a total pin fall of 8306 to move up to second place. St. Francis (Pa.) leads the competition in first place with 8724 points. Urusuline (8276) follows the Golden Bears in third while New Jersey City (7963) took fourth. Medaille rounds out the top five with 7117 points.
The Golden Bears defeated New Jersey City (979-885), St. Francis (Pa.) (962-884), Ursuline (994-905), Salem International (876-639), and Penn State Altoona (899-761) to take their overall record to 33-10.
Schools joining the Golden Bear in participation at the competition include St. Francis (Pa.), Ursuline, New Jersey City, Penn State Altoona, Medaille, and Salem International.
The Maroon and Gold return for day three of action Sunday, December 2, to face St. Francis (Pa.) in the first round on the best of seven Baker bracket matches. The event titles will also be decided Sunday.
