MILLSBORO, Del. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team finished the UMES Hawk Classic in 9th place, displaying their best performance on the third and final day of the tournament at Millsboro Lanes in Millsboro, Del.
KU went 3-0 on the day and the Golden Bears'
Deanna DiRado (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem) finished in 27th place overall with an average of 193.60.
Brooke Bower (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliff) also made the top 50, coming in 49th place with an average of 181.20.
Schools that joined the Golden Bears in participation at the competition included the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Fairleigh Dickinson, Central Missouri, Vanderbilt, St. Francis, Stephen F. Austin, Adelphi, Valparaiso, Sam Houston State, Sacred Heart, New Jersey City, Monmouth, Norfolk State, Delaware State, Howard, Morgan State, and Hampton.
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore finished the competition in first place, followed by Central Missouri in second place. Vanderbilt took third trailed by Fairleigh Dickinson, and Stephen F. Austin finished in fifth. In sixth is Adelphi followed by Sam Houston State and Sacred Heart in eighth place. Kutztown took ninth, while Valparaiso rounded out the top 10.
The Golden Bears finished 7-6 in the weekend tournament to bring their overall record to 24-10.
The Maroon and Gold travels to Altoona, Pa., for the Red Flash Invitational on November 30-December 2.
