KUTZTOWN, Pa. (April 2, 2011) – The Kutztown University women's tennis team won its second consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division contest by defeating Cheyney University, 7-0, Saturday morning.
The Golden Bears (3-7 overall, 2-0 PSAC East) have won three of their last four outings. Leading the way for Kutztown in its victory over Cheyney (0-5, 0-2) was Chelsea White (Landenberg, PA/Avon Grove). She did not lose a set or a point for KU during the win. White teamed with Rachel Grula (Drums, PA/Hazleton Area) to post an 8-0 triumph at No. 1 doubles. At fourth singles, she swept to a 6-0, 6-0 victory. White has been on a roll for the Golden Bears as she has won three straight singles matches.
Freshman Tori Zander (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) was also an easy 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 3 singles. She paired with Tess Wright (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg Area) at No. 2 doubles to post an 8-1 decision. Wright was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 2 doubles. Freshman Brittany Parsons (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) also claimed a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles.
Kutztown continues its PSAC East schedule when it hosts East Stroudsburg Sunday morning beginning at 11 a.m. and Millersville University Tuesday afternoon starting at 3 p.m.
