KU returns to championship game after extra-inning win over Bloom

Hampton, VA (February 19, 2011) – The Kutztown University baseball team won its second game of the day and clinched a spot in the championship game in the 2011 Builder Invitational after defeating Bloomsburg University 13-12 Saturday night at War Memorial Stadium (BOXSCORE)
 
Kutztown finished the round robin portion of the tournament 4-0 and will play in the championship game tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. against Lock Haven University. KU took down the Eagles 22-1 in their previous meeting on Thursday.
 
Cody Montz (Schuylkill Haven, PA/Schuylkill Haven) led the Golden Bears and had a game-high four hits and three RBI's in Saturday's nightcap. Montz came into Saturday night's game leading the team with a .700 batting average.
 
Freshman Kyle Stoudt (Mertztown, PA/Brandywine Heights) had three hits and added two RBI's for KU Saturday night. Stoudt has proven to be a dual threat for the Golden Bears. He also pitched in their opening game against Briarcliffe College and allowed just one run in five innings of work.
 
Shayne Houck (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown), Matt Albaugh (Hatfield, PA/North Penn) and Gilbert Vega (Lancaster, PA/J.P. McCaskey) each had a pair of hits against Bloom.
 
Jacob Schnee (Saylorsburg/Pleasant Valley) earned the win for Kutztown.  Nich Boles (King, N.C./West Stokes/North Carolina A&T) started for KU, pitching four innings while striking out seven batters.
 
Kutztown returns to action tomorrow as it will compete in the 2011 Builder Invitational championship game against Lock Haven beginning at 3:00 p.m.
