Kutztown rolls past Lock Haven in opener of Builder Invitational

HAMPTON, Va. (February 17, 2011) – The Kutztown University baseball started its quest for a seventh straight Builder Invitational title by using a 15-run fifth inning as a springboard to a 22-1 victory over Lock Haven Thursday night. (BOXSCORE)

The Golden Bears (2-2 overall) crammed 21 of their 22 runs into the fourth and fifth innings. Kutztown's half of the fifth inning seemed to be longer than a Harry Potter flick. For Kutztown in its big inning, it sent 20 men to the plate and had nine hits. Also, Lock Haven pitching walked seven KU hitters in the inning. Twelve of the first 13 batters of the inning reached base for the Golden Bears.

Stoudt had a two-run doubles in the fourth and fifth innings. Mike Dugan (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City), James Quigley (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem), and Andrew Otterberg (Wall Township, N.J./Wall Township) had two hits for Kutztown.
