Jones leads Kutztown to sixth place after second day at FDU Jamboree

ELMWOOD PARK, NJ. (November 5, 2011)—Senior Kayla Jones (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop ) of the Kutztown University women's bowling team led the Golden Bears to four wins in the second day of competition at the FDU Jamboree, hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University on Saturday afternoon.

Kutztown (14-6 overall) is currently in sixth place, two spots up from Friday. KU has a total pinfall of 8364. The Golden Bears defeated Vanderbilt University 1042-1021, where Jones led with a 236. Jara Cohen (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) was in the leadoff position and finished with a 232.

In the second game, KU defeated Howard University 921-824. Brooke Bower (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliff) led KU with a 224.
Morgan Reid (Clayton, NC/) rolled a game-high 232 in Kutztown's win over Salem International (962-650).

In game four, Kutztown was victorious over Hampton University, 906-840. Jones led with a 200 followed by Rebecca Velazquez (Mohegan Lake, NY/Lakeland) with a 191.

In the final game on Saturday, the Golden Bears faced reigning NCAA Champion University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, who gave KU its only loss of the day.  Kutztown fell 1038-947. Jones finished with a game-high 222, followed by Deanna DiRado (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem).

Sunday's matches will consist of the best three-of-seven baker matches, following a 9:30 a.m. game against Sacred Heart.

FDU leads the competition (9016), followed by Vanderbilt (8989), UMES (8940), Sam Houston State (8815), Sacred Heart (8654), Stephen F. Austin (8314), Adelphi (8180), Wisconsin Whitewater (8167), and Long Island (7900) to round out the top 10.
