Jaffin lifts Kutztown to 1-0 win over C.W. Post

BROOKVILLE, NY. (October 25, 2011)—Freshman Bella Jaffin (Nescopeck, PA/Berwick Area) of the Kutztown University women's soccer team recorded her first career goal in KU's 1-0 win over Long Island University C.W. Post in a non-conference game, earlier Tuesday afternoon at Robert Blitz Field. (BOXSCORE)

The Golden Bears (13-4 overall) dropped out the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Top 25 poll earlier today. However, KU is ranked fourth in the Atlantic Regional rankings. Kutztown has a 10-3 record in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and is third in the conference standings.

Jaffin scored in the second half, in the 64th minute off of a defensive deflection. Jaffin's seven-yarder was unassisted.
Jaffin is currently second in the team in assists with three.

The Golden Bears outshot the Pioneers (8-5-1 overall) 10-7. Half of Kutztown's shots were shots-on-goal (SOG). Maria Borland (Hagerstown, MD/Hagerstown), Sam Costello (Westfield, N.J./Westfield), Taylor Higgins (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley), and Janine Valerio (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township) all had SOG.

Goalie Casey Behrendt (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) tallied four saves and helped Kutztown record its 13th shutout of the season.

C.W. Post goalie Allie Weiser recorded three saves in the first half. Nicole Fierro stepped in as goalie in the second half and recorded one save for the Pioneers.

The Golden Bears return back to action Saturday, Oct.29 for its regular season finale at Mansfield University. Game time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
