BLOOMSBURG, Pa. (October 13, 2011) – The Kutztown University field hockey team ran into a tough opponent in Bloomsburg University Thursday afternoon as it dropped a 6-1 decision in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup at Sports Stadium.

The Golden Bears (8-6 overall, 3-4 PSAC East) entered the game ranked eighth in the latest Kookaburra / National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) top poll. They are now tied with C.W. Post for third in the Eastern Division.
Emily Labowitz (Bala Cynwyd, PA/Lower Merion) scored her team-leading tenth goal of the season off an assist from fellow junior
Jenna Gregory (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg). Gregory was able to send a perfect pass through the middle of the BU defense to give Labowitz an open look at goal just over 14 minutes into the second half. She has now scored in three of KU's last five games.

Emily Falko (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua), last week's PSAC East Athlete of the Week, finished with 11 saves in the setback.
The Huskies (14-0, 7-0) proved their top ranking Thursday, stretching their winning streak to 14 games. BU opened with a pair of goals within a minute of each other midway through the first half. Jenna DiSabatino and
Amber Aulenbach had a team-leading two goals apiece. Goalkeeper Meghan Hollenbach recorded three saves in the shutout.
The Golden Bears now prepare for their third straight road contest as they take on C.W. Post on Saturday, Oct. 15 for a conference showdown beginning at 12 p.m.
