ERIE, PA (March 26, 2010) – The Kutztown University women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Mercyhurst College Friday afternoon. Despite the defeat, the Golden Bears turned in a tremendous effort and battled the Lakers tough.

Sabrina Arnaud was Kutztown's only winner. She won at No. 2 doubles by claiming a 6-4, 6-3 decision over Meghan Raynor. However, Ridhima Borooah and Nicole Devine dropped three-set heartbreakers. Devine won the first set, 6-2, before dropping the last two sets including 10-7 in the third set. Meanwhile, Borooah, showed plenty of heart in rebounding to win the second set, 6-3.

Mercyhurst (13-5 overall) won all three doubles matches by 8-4 scores. Kutztown (8-6) had its three match winning streak snapped.

Kutztown returns to action Tuesday afternoon when it hosts West Chester in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match beginning at 2:30 p.m.
