Washington and Dennis help Golden Bears get back on winning track

PHILADELPHIA, PA (February 1, 2010) - The Kutztown University men's basketball team regrouped with a 78-60 non-conference win over Holy Family on Monday afternoon. Stephen Dennis and Ryan Washington returned to form, combining for 53 points to propel the Golden Bears to their 17th win of the season. (Boxscore)

The Golden Bears dominated in all facets of the game after a minor hiccup at Bloomsburg on Saturday. As a team, the Golden Bears were a perfect 16-for-16 from the free throw line. KU also controlled the glass, out rebounding the Tigers 47-31 and forcing 17 turnovers.

Dennis, a
Division II national player of year candidate, scored a game-high 29 points and  made all nine of his free throws. He also grabbed five rebounds, four steals and three assists.

Washington notched his 11th double-double of the season with 24 points and 12 boards. The junior center dished out four assists and was a force in the paint with a game-high four blocks.

Junior guard Julius Gray added 13 points, while sophomore Ryan White had six rebounds and four points.

With the contest knotted at 23
with 5:23 remaining in the first half, KU went on a 16-2 run to pull away from the Tigers for good heading into the halftime break.

Holy Family was led by Justin Swidowski's 26 points and eight rebounds.

The Golden Bears will look to carry their momentum into Wednesday nights 8 p.m. showdown against Cheyney at Keystone Arena.
