No. 5 Kutztown ready to host No. 4 Bloomsburg Tuesday night

KUTZTOWN, PA (October 5, 2010) – The Kutztown University field hockey team remains fifth in the fourth week of the 2010 Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Coaches Poll. (COMPLETE RANKINGS)
 
Kutztown (5-2 overall, 2-1 PSAC East) is one of seven Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) schools to make this week's top poll. Shippensburg and East Stroudsburg remain undefeated and are No.1 and No.2 in the poll, respectively. Bloomsburg is No.4, C.W. Post is sixth, Indiana University of PA is ninth, and Millersville in tenth.
 
Kutztown split a pair of games last week as it concluded a four game road trip, it's longest of the season. The Golden Bears dropped their first game of the week against the Warriors of East Stroudsburg University, 5-2. Scoring for Kutztown were Abbey Sheeler and Erin Reynolds. Sheeler leads the Golden Bears with five goals this year, followed by Reynolds with four. 
 
In KU's second game of the week, the Golden Bears bounced back from its defeat to ESU and defeated C.W. Post 4-2. Sophomore Emily Labowitz scored the game-winning goal for Kutztown with 26 seconds remaining. Also scoring for the Golden Bears were Sheeler, Reynolds, and Imani Ferguson. This is Ferguson's third goal of the year.
 
Kutztown returns home Tuesday, October 5th for one of its most important games of the year. Kutztown will host fourth ranked Bloomsburg in a PSAC matchup with possible postseason implications. Both teams are fighting for top spots in the Eastern Division of the PSAC. Action will kick off at 7:00 p.m. at University Field.
 
Bloomsburg (5-2 overall, 1-1 PSAC East), is the reigning PSAC champions. Bloomsburg's sole loss last year game at the hands of Kutztown as the Golden Bears won 2-1 at Bloomsburg which ended a 39-game, 26-year losing streak against BU. 

The Huskies are led by forward Amanda Riley who has seven goals so far this season. Bloomsburg's defense has been a crucial part of their success this year, as goalkeeper Meghan Hollenbach has allowed just 10 goals in 2010.
 
Kutztown continues play this weekend as they host Indiana University beginning at 11 a.m. at University Field.
