Feb. 22 — Jared Frey (jr. Mohrsville/Schuylkill Valley) and Shayne Houck (fr. Barto/Boyertown) led the Kutztown University baseball team to a 12-4 win over Bloomsburg University in the Builder Invitational Sunday.
The Golden Bears (7-2) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, using eight walks to plate five runs. The 12 runs pushed KU's four-day total to 68 at the Builder Invitational.
Frey finished with three RBIs and Houck was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Both hit two-RBI doubles in the seventh to push KU's lead to 12-4.
Jeff Kistle (so. Sandyston, N.J./Kittatinny) also had a sacrifice and scored a run.
Ryan Cassidy (jr. Langhorne/Archbishop Wood) pitched five innings for KU collecting the win and Mike Bucklin (jr. Shillington/Governor Mifflin) picked up his second save pitching four shutout innings.
