Kutztown to battle West Chester in PSAC final

KUTZTOWN, PA. (November 6, 2009) – The Kutztown University women's soccer team will travel to take on West Chester University on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference finals at South Campus Field.

Before the Golden Bears defeated California (PA) 1-0, West Chester beat Indiana (PA) 4-1 to earn its third trip in four years to the conference championship. Kutztown is making its first finals appearance since back-to-back trips in 2004 and 2005.

This will be the third meeting between West Chester (18-1-1 overall) and Kutztown (15-4-2 overall). The Golden Rams won 2-0 on the road and 2-1 at home to sweep the regular season contests. In 2008, West Chester knocked Kutztown out of the PSAC quarterfinals by a 3-0 margin.

The goal scored by Indiana snapped a 15-game shutout streak for West Chester, dating back to September 16th when Chelsea Bressler scored for KU.

The Golden Bears, ranked 24th in the nation, set KU record for wins in a season with 15. West Chester is ranked fifth in the nation.

Tickets to the PSAC finals will be sold at the gate. No advance sale of tickets is available. Prices are $7 for adults and $2 for students/children.
