KUTZTOWN, PA. (September 16, 2009) – The Kutztown University women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to visiting West Chester in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match Wednesday afternoon at Keystone Field.

The Golden Bears (4-2-1 overall, 2-1-1 PSAC East) entered the game ranked ninth in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25 poll and ranked first in the Atlantic Region. Kutztown held a 1-0 halftime advantage thanks to Chelsea Bressler (Cleona, PA/Annville-Cleona)'s goal in the 36th minute. The scoring play began when Sarah Black (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) fired a shot that clanked off the top of the crossbar and onto Bressler's foot.

Kutztown freshman keeper Alyssa Hackelberg (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) made two saves. In addition to Bressler's two shots, Jen Tice (Barnegat, N.J./Southern Regional) and Sarah Black (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) also fired the same amount of shots during the game. Kutztown controlled the first half, holding a 9-3 edge in shots. Unfortunately for the Golden Bears, West Chester turned the tables after intermission, outshooting KU, 5-2.

West Chester took the lead with a pair of goals during a two-minute stretch of the second half. Melissa McKeary tied the game, 1-1, in the 66th minute. Sarah Oswald scored the decisive tally off of an assist from Sam Paolino in the 68th minute.
