KU shuts out nationally ranked ESU 1-0

EAST STROUDSBURG, PA. - On the road for the first time this season, 24th ranked Kutztown University womens' soccer team remained undefeated with a 1-0 victory over 17th ranked East Stroudsburg University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division match Saturday.

Molly Cooper (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) (Palmyra/Palmyra) scored the lone goal of the game 33 minutes into the first half off a perfect feed from forward Chelsea Bressler (Cleona, PA/Annville-Cleona) (Cleona/Annville-Cleona). The Golden Bears improved to 4-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 PSAC East.

Freshman goalkeeper Alyssa Hackelberg (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) (Randolph, N.J./Randolph)  made eight saves. Kutztown, which is ranked third in the Atlantic Region, had 10 shots. ESU, which fell to 5-2 overall and 2-1 PSAC East, entered ranked second in the Atlantic Region.

"This was a fantastic win for our young program and I am so proud of the effort our girls gave today," Kutztown coach Erik Burstein said. "Stroudsburg really pushed in the second half but we found a way to keep them off the score board and secured a very important win against a very good team. I am so proud of our women."

The Golden Bears travel to Wheeling-Jesuit Monday afternoon, hoping to continue their undefeated season. They return home Wednesday afternoon for a PSAC East match against West Chester at 3 p.m. on Keystone Field.
