David Awurumibe is in his fourth season as a volunteer assistant jumps coach with the Kutztown University track & field program in 2024-25.
Awurumibe competed in the high jump for the Golden Bears from 2017-21, qualifying for three PSAC Indoor Championships and three PSAC Outdoor Championships. He had a best finish of fifth at the 2019 PSAC Indoor Championships, clearing 1.94m (6-feet, 4.25-inches).
A Berks County native, Awurumbie graduated from Wilson High School in West Lawn, Pa., before coming to Kutztown. During his career with the Maroon and Gold, Awurumibe's top outdoor high jump was 1.97m (6'5.5") at the West Chester Quad Meet in 2019 and his top indoor mark was also 1.97m at the Kutztown Last Chance Qualifier in February, 2020. He ranks tied for ninth on KU's indoor high jump top 10 list.
Awurumibe is a 2021 KU alum, having earned his Bachelor of Science in psychology.
