David Linkchorst assumed the duties of building a women's golf program as the first head coach in Kutztown University history.
The Golden Bear women's golf team began play in the fall of 2000.
"I welcome the challenge of pioneering the Kutztown University women's golf team," Linkchorst said. "I'm looking forward to helping ground out the student-athlete experience in the game of a lifetime. I wish to maintain a level of competitiveness that is consistent with the success of Kutztown University athletics."
Linkchorst brings 23 years of experience to his first collegiate coaching position. He's held the position of head golf professional at the Blackwood Golf Course in Douglassville, Pa., since 1993. Some of his responsibilities at Blackwood included conducting private and group lessons, along with supervising the entire golf staff. Additionally, he directed the International Golf School at Blackwood since 1996.
Linkchorst has written several golfing articles for various publications, including the 422 Business Advisor and Pro Shop News. He served on the PGA Education Committee in the four years prior to his hiring at KU.
Before Blackwood, Linkchorst was the first assistant professional at the Chester Valley Golf Club in Malvern, Pa., and the Shawnee Inn and Country Club in Shawnee on Delaware, Pa. He began his professional career in golf as assistant professional for Dick Farley Associates. During his time there, Linkchorst operated the Passaic County Golf Course pro shop in Wayne, N.J., and served as first assistant at the Rolling Hills Country Club in Englewood, N.J.
Linkchorst graduated from East Stroudsburg University in 1987 with a degree in history. Since then, he's furthered his education in golf. He has taken numerous course and clinics to learn and teach each aspect of the sport. Linkchorst earned the rank of Class A-1 Member of the PGA of America. He is an accomplished golfer, winning the 1998 FES Winter Tour event at Deerfield Golf and Country Club, as well as the 1994 and 1998 Low Professional Brookside Country Club Pro-Member Tournament. He qualified for, and participated in, the Compaq World Putting Championship, and finished 20th on the Philadelphia PGA points list during the 1999 season.
