Derick Fiedler joins the Kutztown University track & field program as a graduate assistant coach for the 2024-25 academic year.

Fiedler competed at PSAC foe Slippery Rock, where he was an eight-time PSAC qualifier and a 2011-12 USTFCCCA All-Region performer in the heptathlon.

A native of Erie, Pa., Fiedler claimed gold in the heptathlon at the 2013 PSAC Indoor Championships after producing a NCAA provisional qualifying score of 4,902 points. Fiedler also finished fifth in the event at the 2012 indoor championships (4,601 points) and fifth at the 2012 Outdoor Championships in the decathlon (6,199 points).

Fiedler is a professional speaker, focusing on college athletes struggling with depression. He was honored for mental health advocacy at the 2017 Pennsylvania Governor's State Dinner by former governor Tom Wolf.

Fiedler graduated from Slippery Rock in 2014 with a degree in environmental studies. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in clinical mental health counseling at KU.
