JaKia Gumby completed her seventh season with the Kutztown University track and field team in 2017-18.
Gumby joined the KU track & field coaching staff in 2011 and works primarily with the throwers. She is no stranger to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), having both coached and competed in the conference.
While at Kutztown, Gumby has coached five PSAC champions – John Lowery, Nicole Wildermuth, Rosealine Farrell (two-time champion), and April Doyle, the first woman to win eight PSAC titles in one event.
In 2014, Gumby coached two PSAC outdoor champions and three All-PSAC throwers at the PSAC Outdoor Championships. In 2012-13, Gumby's athletes combined for seven top-three finishes at the PSAC Indoor and Outdoor Championships, including three PSAC champions.
Gumby came to Kutztown after serving as a graduate assistant at Slippery Rock in 2009 and guided one PSAC champion in the throwing events.
As an undergraduate, she competed at Lock Haven from 2005-09, and won the shot put at the 2008 PSAC Indoor Championships.
Gumby holds both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in sports management.
