Standout collegiate and international sprinter James Alaka is in his fourth season with the Kutztown University track andĀ field programs as an assistant coach in 2024-25.

The Golden Bears Indoor team placed fourth at PSACs during 2022-23. their best finish since 2018-19 when they were third.
Alaka brings a high-level pedigree to the Golden Bears as a NCAA Division I All-American, European U23 Champion and three-time PAC-12 champion at the University of Washington.

During his first year, the KU sprinters were responsible for 12 new marks on Kutztownās All-Time Top-10Ā list, including four school records (Menās 60m, Womenās 55m, Womenās 4x100m, Womenās 4x200m).

Alaka holds a United States Track & Field Level 1 coaching certification. He graduated from the University of Washington in 2014 with a degree in Comparative History of Ideas (CHID). While attending UW, Alaka was a member of the school's Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and Black Student Union (BSU). Most recently, he spent three seasons as the head coach of San Ramon Valley High School in Danville, Calif.
