MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – No. 1 Kutztown field hockey remained unbeaten Wednesday, defeating No. 10 Millersville, 6-2, to improve to 8-0 on the season.
The Golden Bears controlled the game from the opening whistle, building a six-goal lead before Millersville scored twice in the final three minutes.

Marlee Fetrow (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone) following a penalty corner to give KU an early lead. Kutztown extended its lead at 9:40 when junior
Marissa Rice (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) scored her first goal of the night, finishing a rebound off her own initial shot.
Freshman
Anna Harris (Reston, Va./South Lakes) added to the Golden Bears' advantage at 24:09, scoring an unassisted goal to send Kutztown into halftime with a 3-0 lead.
Sophomore
Bree Zoccolo (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) added her first goal of the season at 40:37. After a Millersville corner attempt was broken up, Kutztown quickly transitioned up the field and worked a series of passes to create a one-on-one opportunity between Zoccolo and the goalkeeper, which Zoccolo converted.
Sophomore
Kaylee Zellers (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) made it 5-0 at 52:37, finishing a cross-cage pass from Zoccolo for her first goal of the season. Rice capped Kutztown's scoring at 56:47, converting a penalty stroke for her second goal of the night. Millersville scored twice in the final three minutes, finding the cage at 57:13 before adding a penalty-stroke goal at 59:34, both scored by Erin Esterhuizen.
Junior
Lorelai Lehenky (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) started in goal for the Golden Bears, with sophomore
Tess Adolf (Lawrence, N.J./Lawrence)Â taking over from the third quarter into the fourth. Freshman
Corinne Bull (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) finished the game, playing the final 5:20. Kutztown was efficient on the evening, putting 12 of its 15 shots on cage, while Millersville placed 8 of its 9 shots on cage. Both teams earned nine penalty corners.
The Maroon and Gold return to Andre Reed Stadium on Saturday, hosting non-conference opponent American International College at 5 p.m.
