MANSFIELD, Pa. – In its lone action on the weekend, Kutztown softball made sure to make the best of it as KU traveled to Mansfield and defeated the host Mounties 11-0 in both Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division games Friday afternoon at Helen Lutes Field.

The Golden Bears (22-14 overall, 11-5 PSAC East) tied their season-long win streak with four victories in-a-row, which they accomplished two other times this season so far.

Kutztown found success in all facets Friday, with the offense amassing 27 total hits on the day, season-highs with 13 in the opener and then 14 in the nightcap. There were 14 extra base hits, including six home runs, six doubles and two triples. Then, starting pitching and the defense allowed just six hits with zero runs given up.

Emily Henn (Matamoras, Pa./Delaware Valley) and
Morgan Kocher (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent), the one-two batters in the lineup, led the way, both going 5-for-8. Henn finished with two HRs and two triples, while adding six RBIs and scoring four runs, and Kocher contributed three RBIs and a run scored.
Alexa Stevens (Jefferson Township, Pa./North Pocono) recorded four hits, three runs scored and two RBIs. Each of
Morgan Slomkowski (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East),
Sophia Collins (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn),
Samantha Paetow (Fayetteville, Pa./Chambersburg),
Ashley Schulz (Oreland, Pa./Springfield) and
Taylor Gearhart (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) had two hits.
Caitlin Ashley (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford),
Jamie Madara (Levittown, Pa./Academy of the New Church) and
Leanna Schenk (Roslyn, Pa./Abington) all tallied one hit, with Ashley's and Madara's being long balls. Gearhart and Stevens also hit a home run each.

Inside the circle,
Amanda Slabicki (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) started game one and threw a complete game, giving up just two hits, while striking out two batters for her fourth victory of the season.
Haley Gravish (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) only had to throw five innings in game two as the Maroon and Gold won the game via a five-inning mercy rule. Gravish struck out a season-best nine for her PSAC-leading 14th win this season.

Kutztown has the rest of the weekend off and will next be back in action next Tuesday, April 14, when it hosts Shepherd for two games at North Campus Field, beginning at 1 p.m.
