KUTZTOWN, Pa. – In one of the toughest tests of the season for the 11th-ranked Kutztown wrestling team, it was the national powerhouse and fifth-ranked Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats who controlled the match, 31-11, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference dual on Alumni Night inside Keystone Arena.

The Golden Bears (3-3, 1-1 PSAC) were hopeful that the performance of its first five wrestlers would be enough for the team's ranked grapplers to come back and make it a close contest. However, the Mountain Cats (8-0, 2-0 PSAC) led wire to wire and kept its perfect season alive with a 20-point victory over an outmatched KU squad.

After top-ranked Trevon Gray put up a technical fall at 125 pounds, 133-pound Javien DeLeon (Allentown, Pa./Liberty) shut out his UPJ counterpart in a 5-0 decision, drawing within two heading into the middle portion of the dual.

Pitt-Johnstown rattled off 14 points across the next three bouts, and didn't let the Golden Bears record any team points until a tie-breaking period gave seventh-ranked 184-pound Cole Casilio (Wilcox, Pa./Johnsonburg) a 2-1 decision. While sixth-ranked Wayne McIntyre (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) turned in a dominant, 19-3 technical fall at 197 pounds, it was too little, too late for the home team as the visitors left the building undefeated.

The Golden Bears stay home for a non-conference dual next weekend, when they will host Fairmont State on Youth Night inside Keystone Arena on Friday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m.
