KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown and Shippensburg softball have seen a lot of each other in the postseason over the last two-plus seasons, and 2025 is no different. The two teams won their respective Sub-Regionals last week and will meet in the NCAA Atlantic Super Regionals later this week at North Campus Field in a best-of-three with the winner advancing to NCAA Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Â
The second-seeded Golden Bears (43-17 overall) are making their second straight trip to Super Regionals and the third time in the last four seasons. They won their opening game at Regionals over Charleston, before falling to Bloomsburg. KU fought all the way back to win its next three games, one against the Golden Eagles and then two in-a-row over the Huskies to get out of the pod. The fourth-seeded Raiders (34-20) won all three of their games, one vs. West Chester and then two straight against the top seed and No. 10 East Stroudsburg.
Â
Game one is scheduled for Thursday, May 15, at 1 p.m., while game two is set for Friday, May 16, at 1 p.m. Game three, if necessary, will be at 3:30 p.m., Friday.
Â
It is the third consecutive year that the two teams will meet in Atlantic Regional tournament competition, but the first time in the Super Regionals. Thursday's game will mark the ninth NCAA Tournament matchup between the two teams, with the first meeting dating back to 2003. Last season, the Raiders and Golden Bears played three times in regionals at Creekview Park in Stroudsburg. Ship forced a winner-take-all game, but Kutztown won to punch its ticket to the Super Regional. It will mark the 13th meeting between the two teams in the last two seasons, with Kutztown also winning 13-11 at the PSAC Tournament last year. The teams met four times during the 2025 regular season, with the Golden Bears claiming three of the four games.
Â
The Maroon and Gold are making their 23rd appearance in the NCAA Tournament and fifth in-a-row. They boast a 46-46 record and qualified for NCAA Championships twice, in 2012 and 2013.
Â
Some of Kutztown's top performers all season have been senior pitcher
Haley Gravish (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg), senior first baseman
Naya Darnowski (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Township), junior third baseman
Morgan Slomkowski (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East), junior second baseman
