SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Kyle Archie (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) claimed silver in the high jump, while Kutztown's 4x100 meter relay team and javelin thrower
Kevin Givone (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) won bronze to lead the Golden Bear men's track & field team to sixth-place team finish at the PSAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday.
Archie, a freshman from Reading, Pa., put forth his best effort of the season by clearing a NCAA provisional mark of 2.08m (6-9.75) to finish as the runner-up in the high jump and earn All-PSAC Second Team honors. He moved up to fourth from seventh on KU's all-time top 10 and put himself in the conversation to qualify for the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships in two weeks. Archie's mark is tied for 24th in the country this year (prior to this weekend's results from around the nation) and the top 22 declared athletes in the event will advance to the national meet at CSU Pueblo.
Teammate
TJ White (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) was also a point-scorer for KU in the high jump, tying for sixth at 2.00m (6-6.75).
The Golden Bears' 4x100m relay team of
Sean Singleton (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin),
James Washburn (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River),
Steele Wrigley (Coatesville, Pa./Octorara) and
Daron Haggans (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) cut nearly a tenth of a second off their prelims time from Friday with a 40.97 on Saturday to finish third. The quartet improved upon the second-best time in school history and captured All-PSAC Third Team accolades.
Givone joined Archie in supplying his best performance of the 2025 outdoor season when he threw the javelin 63.59m (208-7) to win bronze with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark. The defending PSAC champion secured his second all-conference honor in a row, with his mark good for 32nd nationally heading into the weekend's action.
KU featured a pair of point-scorers in the 400m hurdles final where Washburn took fifth with the seventh-quickest time in team history (53.62) and
Kyle Love (Lansdowne, Pa./Bonner-Prendergast) placed seventh (55.08).
Trey Hamlin III (Townsend, Del./Caravel Academy) capped a strong debut at the PSAC Outdoor Championships with a sixth-place finish in the triple jump. His mark of 14.44m (47-4.50) vaulted him from ninth to eighth on KU's top 10 and gave him his second top six finish of the weekend after winning bronze in the long jump on Friday.
The Maroon and Gold took seventh of 13 teams in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:19.33 from
Joe Cavalcante (Philadelphia, Pa./La Salle College H.S.),
Joey Pittman (Stafford, Va./Stafford), Wrigley and Washburn. Wrigley also competed in the 400m final, finishing eighth in 49.48.
East Stroudsburg extended its three-point lead entering the day to a substantial 17.5 to claim its first-ever team title with 165.5 points, snapping Shippensburg's run of 15 consecutive titles dating back to 2009. The Raiders ended up second with 148 points, ahead of Slippery Rock (126.16), Lock Haven (99) and West Chester (64), which completed the top five.
