WILSON, N.C. – The Kutztown University baseball team lost to the Barton College Bulldogs 22-0 on Tuesday afternoon in their first of two midweek non-conference games in North Carolina.
The Golden Bears (6-11 overall) fell to a scorching hot Bulldogs (17-10) team that picked up their third straight win and tenth by double digits on Tuesday. Kutztown reached on a trio of singles in the early innings, but were able to lock things down to secure their victory with four no hit innings to end the game.
Kutztown got hits from center fielder Bo Barthol (Breinigsville, Pa./Parkland), left fielder Dalton Furst (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) and second baseman Cam Burr (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg). They also got on base with walks from Jimmy Kerley (Indian Trail, N.C./Sun Valley) and Drew Wheeler (Waxhaw, N.C./Marvin Ridge), but couldn't drive runners across the plate in a challenging day against Barton's stellar pitching staff.

The staff was supported by a strong offense, featuring five runs batted in from Caleb Holland and another four sent home by a fourth inning Chase Waddell home run.
The Golden Bears remain in the Tar Heel State to face Chowan (Wednesday, Mar. 19 at 1 p.m.) before coming home to North Campus Field to open conference play with a doubleheader against Mansfield on Friday, Mar. 21, with first pitch slated for 1 p.m.
