Men’s Basketball drops home contest to Indiana (Pa.)

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's basketball team fell to the Indiana (Pa.) Crimson Hawks, 78-71, on Friday evening in a non-conference battle inside Keystone Arena.

The Golden Bears (2-2 overall) held its own in the first part of the opening half, playing several strong defensive series before the Crimson Hawks (5-1, 1-0 PSAC) put up a potent offensive attack in the back half of the frame to build a nine point advantage by halftime, which they held throughout the remainder of the game.

The Maroon and Gold held a one-point advantage with just over ten minutes remaining in the first period, and while IUP pulled ahead in the two minutes that followed, KU pulled back within one with under eight minutes to go in the first half. From there, however, visitors built the nine-point margin it carried into the break.

Kutztown was able to play a tight second half against IUP, but the halftime advantage proved to be crucial as the Crimson Hawks walked away with their fifth win of the year.

Senior forward Jordan Nkoa Abessolo (Yaoundé, Cameroon/St. Maria Goretti (Md.)) led the way for KU with 19 points, nine rebounds and three steals, while fifth-year guard Jalen Bryant (Edgewood, Md./John Carroll) had 19 points, five rebounds and a pair of steals. Yahmir Satterfield (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) had seven points and five rebounds, while Omari Banks (Middletown, Del./The Phelps School (Pa.)) scored 13 points in defeat.

Due to the layout of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's East and West Divisions, the game counts as a PSAC victory for the Crimson Hawks, while the Golden Bears' conference record remains unchanged.

The Golden Bears travel west for a Tuesday evening meeting with the Gannon Golden Knights on December 16 at 5 p.m. inside the Highmark Events Center in Erie, Pa.
