INDIANAPOLIS – Kutztown University will represent Super Region One as its top seed in the NCAA Division II Football Championship for the second straight year after the 32-team playoff field was announced Sunday evening. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference champion Golden Bears will host Northeast 10 Conference champion Bentley in a first round game at Andre Reed Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 22.
Kutztown extended its Division II-best active regular season winning streak to 31 games by holding off IUP, 28-23, yesterday to win its third consecutive PSAC Championship Game. The Golden Bears, 11-0 for the second year in a row, are making their eighth national tournament appearance all-time and fifth in the last six seasons. KU is the top seed in SR1 for the fourth time in program history (2010, 2021, 2024, 2025).
The Golden Bears will meet Bentley (7-3) for the first time ever. The Falcons received the automatic qualifying berth from the NE10 after defeating Assumption, 20-17, for the league title back on Nov. 8.
The remaining three first round matchups in SR1 feature No. 2 seed Johnson C. Smith, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association champion, taking on Mountain East champion and unseeded Frostburg State, No. 3 seed Virginia Union from the CIAA facing unseeded California (Pa.) from the PSAC and No. 4 seed IUP hosting Assumption out of the NE10.
Along with Kutztown in SR1, top seeds went to Albany State (Ga.) in SR2, defending national champion Ferris State in SR3 and Harding in SR4.
All NCAA DII Championship games through the semifinals will be carried live on ESPN+, with the national championship game airing on ESPN2 from McKinney, Texas, on Dec. 20.
