Women’s Soccer dispatches Millersville to secure PSAC Championship berth

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's soccer team continued its roll through the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship bracket on Friday morning, defeating the Millersville Marauders 1-0 in the semifinal round at Rockwell Field.

A second half goal from junior forward Corinne Morgan (Port Republic, N.J./Cedar Creek) propelled the Golden Bears (13-4-1, East No. 2) to a tightly contested victory over the Marauders (9-7-3, East No. 5) in a rematch of the 2021 PSAC Quarterfinals, sending the Golden Bears to its eighth PSAC Championship game and giving the team the opportunity to claim its first PSAC Championship in program history.

After a rather silent first half with just eight combined shots, Morgan looked to capitalize early in the second half. The All-PSAC First Team forward received a pass in the middle of the field from freshman Sierra Hess (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) in the 51st minute, and with a defender locked to her hip the entire time, she found an open crease in the right side of the defense, taking the opportunity to send a shot past the outstretched arms of keeper Sabrina Zimmerman in the bottom left corner for the game's only goal.

Morgan led the game in both total shots (7) and on target attempts (3) in a winning effort on the day, while her 12th goal of the season elevated her into the program's single-season top 10 charts in both goals (T-9th) and points (28, T-10th). Midfielder Sarah Bronico (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) had a pair of shots on target, and Hess, Maura Day (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Abington) and Regan Curabba (Shohola, Pa./Delaware Valley) each attempted one shot on target to pressure the Millersville defense.

The Kutztown defensive unit stood strong once again for its eighth shutout of the 2025 season. Goalkeeper Morgan O'Donnell (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) backed the defense up and came up big for KU, saving six on-target shots from a team that put two-thirds of its total attempts on frame.

The Golden Bears led the game in shots (16-9) and attempts on target (8-6), while the Marauders had the slight edge in saves (7-6), and both teams had a pair of corners in the Friday morning contest.

Kutztown claimed its second postseason victory on Rockwell Field in as many seasons, after defeating West Chester, 1-0, last season in the PSAC Quarterfinals. KU has put up a shutout victory in each of the last three conference postseason tournaments, while blanking its first two opponents in the 2021 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship.

This Sunday's PSAC Championship marks the eighth time the Maroon and Gold will be vying for the conference crown, and the second time it has reached the title game in back-to-back years (2004-05 being the other). It will be the sixth consecutive title game the Golden Bears will be on the road for, with its last home PSAC Championship contest coming in 2005.

The PSAC Championship game will take place at Rockwell Field on Sunday, November 16, where the Golden Bears will take on the winner of the other semifinal game between top-seeded West Chester and third-seeded Shepherd at 1 p.m.
