Top-ranked Kutztown holds no. 1 spot in NCAA Atlantic Region Poll

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The No. 1-ranked Kutztown University field hockey team continues to set the national standard, claiming the top position in the first ranked edition of the 2025 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region poll, released Wednesday afternoon.

The NCAA regional rankings determine which teams advance to the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship. Unlike last week's alphabetical listing, this week's release features a numerical order, with Kutztown leading the Atlantic Region ahead of No. 2 Newberry, No. 3 East Stroudsburg, No. 4 Shippensburg, No. 5 West Chester, No. 6 Lander, and No. 7 Bloomsburg.

The Golden Bears (17-0, 8-0 PSAC) remain one of just two undefeated teams in all of Division II, alongside Newberry (14-0). KU leads the nation in total goals (93) and penalty corners (249) and ranks among the country's top defensive units—tied for second nationally in both fewest goals allowed (10) and shutouts (9).

Offensively, Kutztown has shattered multiple program records this fall, including single-season marks for goals (93) and assists (63), while averaging over five goals per game.

Kutztown will close out its regular season this weekend in one of the most anticipated matchups of the year. The No. 1 Golden Bears host No. 2 Shippensburg on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 5 p.m. in a showdown between the top two teams in the nation.

The postseason begins the following week with the 2025 PSAC Championships, set for Nov. 7 (semifinals) and Nov. 9 (championship).
